Country Towns Initiative

Current Programme

The Country Towns Initiative is now part of our Quality of Place programme  Schemes can be complex and require time for both planning ahead with our partners and construction.

The programme  includes schemes, some of which are at an early stage of preparation and others which are well advanced.  You will see some recent examples on the tabbed pages.

 

Southampton Road, Ringwood

In partnership with New Forest District Council, extending earlier very successful schemes in the town centre:

  • creation of a shared space for shoppers and outdoor events

  • new pedestrian signals and improved footway links

  • new cycle facilities

  • resurfacing, planting, lighting and seating

  • notice boards

Works are expected to complete in early summer 2011

 

Grayshott Square

In partnership with Grayshott Parish Council and East Hampshire District Council;

  • remodel shopping square, including a stage for public events

  • remove steps hazard

  • improve footpath links to nearby areas

  • new surfacing, lighting, seating and tree planting

  • new notice boards and public artworks.

Works are now complete.

 

Romsey, Abbey Water

Working in this historic, streamside area of Romsey

·reconstruction of existing, badly damaged stream wall

·new waterside railings and drainage

·resurfaced carriageway

·improved surface water drainage
