The Hard, Lands End Road, Bursledon
This scheme has restored the informal character of a small riverside viewing area and dinghy launching slipway on the Hamble. Poor quality concrete paving and structures have been replaced with natural materials, including reconstruction of the river bank with oak piling.
The slipway has been re-surfaced with granite setts, and the foreshore reinforced with concrete lattice blocks filled with natural river gravel to conserve a natural appearance. Sculptor Alison Crowther has produced seating to reflect the sense of place, carved from green English Oak.
The project continues the work of improving the appearance and accessibility of public hards on the River Hamble.
