Municipal Gardens, Aldershot
Municipal Gardens is situated within the Aldershot West Conservation Area at the edge of the town centre. There has been a continuing programme of environmental improvements of this Victorian park since the late 1980s. The work has included the provision of a new hard court and viewing area, restoration of the historic path network and boundary railings, the creation of new entrance gateways, and a fountain. The scheme has involved a number of artists and crafts people from stone lettering and mosaics to metal sculpture.
Completion/status Completed in 2004
Project team & partners This scheme included working with Rushmoor Borough Council, The Friends of Municipal Gardens, Return to Stone (stone masons) , Saraj Guha (artist blacksmith), Maggie Howarth (mosaicist) and Peter Clutterbuck (artist blacksmith).
