St Mary’s Church, Alverstoke

Opening Ceremony at St Mary's Church, Alverstoke New Railings at St Mary's Church, Alverstoke

St. Mary’s, Alverstoke is a landmark building in Gosport. Located in a prominent position in the Alverstoke Village Conservation Area, this Listed Building dominates the local scene and can be seen from many miles around.

The restoration of the setting to St.Mary’s Church was a local initiative using historic photographs provided by members of the community, and oral history, to confirm the final details of the scheme.

The restoration included new railings, based on physical evidence of the original railings that were removed during World War II, refurbishment of the lych gate, and new resin path surfacing.

Completion/status Completed in 2005
