Schools Landscape Programme
Do you want to make the most of your school grounds as a real asset?
A well planned outdoor environment that is carefully designed and thoughtfully managed can be used to deliver many aspects of the curriculum . It can also extend the range of play and recreational opportunities to cater for the needs of all pupils and, at the same time, encourage a positive feeling for the school and the wider environment.
The Schools Landscape Programme is a well established County Council initiative working directly with schools in the Local Education Authority of Hampshire and covering all sectors.
The support offered encourages each school on the programme to begin to think about their grounds through a comprehensive Whole Site Planning process. This means initially looking at the whole picture rather than any one individual project.
The case studies demonstrate how this process has enabled schools to develop a broad and longer term vision for the whole of their grounds as well as maximising their value as a resource for the school and, where appropriate, the wider community.
The outcome of the process is a Whole Site Strategy, usually recorded graphically on a plan which is incorporated within a larger strategy document. This will include your Aims, Vision and Action Plan for achieving change within the grounds.
