Schools Environmental Improvements Scheme

This project works with schools to help them develop the potential of the natural resources on their site: woodland areas, wildflower meadows, ponds, orchards, etc.
Trails, outdoor classrooms, sculptures and traditional crafts, accessible play and study areas can be created to encourage the extension of the curriculum into the school grounds.
School woodlands are a particular focus for providing shade, shelter and a learning environment across a range of subjects.
The SEI scheme provides an opportunity to explore the existing natural assets of your school site, to analyse its potential in the life of the school community and to help you carry out initial improvements supplying funding and practical assistance to do so.
The project aims to facilitate a network of contacts for support to perpetuate the management and use of these areas thereafter. It recognises that engaging the community/volunteers, phasing works, planning ahead and seeking grant aid can all reduce the cost of ongoing maintenance.
