People Places and Hampshire Highways  - 27 March 2007

Hampshire County Council takes very seriously its role in conserving the special quality, distinctiveness and sense of place of Hampshire’s countryside, towns and villages, whilst managing and improving a safe road network. With other authorities and partners, we are in the vanguard of a growing body of innovative practice.

Councillor Ken Thornber, Leader of Hampshire County Council invited an audience comprising elected representatives and community organisations, design and  construction professionals to this opportunity to share our thoughts about some of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

We were  very fortunate to have secured Ben Hamilton-Baillie,  Professor John Adams, of University College London and Phil Jones as our key note speakers, all of whom are recognised national authorities on the relationship between the environment, transport and risk.

You will find further details of the event in the Conference Papers
