Volunteer visitors needed to help monitor quality in care homes
Hampshire County Council is looking for volunteers to visit some of the Council’s residential and nursing homes. As part of a pilot to help monitor quality of services, volunteers will be asked to observe and then feed back on what it would be like to live at the home. Training and support for volunteers will be provided and travel expenses reimbursed. Volunteers will be asked to commit 3 to 4 days over the space of a year to the project. The pilot will cover specific homes in Denmead, Eastleigh, Fareham, Havant, Emsworth and Bishops Waltham. Volunteers do not need any specialist skills or experience and applications from people of any age or background are welcome.
If you know someone who:
- is interested in the quality of care being provided in care homes for older people
- likes talking to and listening to other people, and is good at putting people at their ease
- wants to make a difference in the lives of older people who live in care homes
- is willing to write down what they find during the visits
