What
are the benefits of e-learning products?
They
can be accessed at any time and at any location when the learning is needed - saving you direct
costs, travel time and venue hire. They can quickly deliver a message to a wide audience. A consistent
message is given, updates are easy to introduce, and the content can be referred back to at any time.
Can
e-learning help / is it suitable for my requirements?
e-Learning
can be used on its own or may support other forms of learning. Past clients tell us they chose e-learning
products for some of the following reasons:
“To reach a wide audience”
“It is a good way to get a lot of people to access basic theoretical or process information”
“Provides an evidence trail of how many staff have completed it”
“A good medium for delivering a dry subject in an interactive way.”
“Provides an alternative format for a paper-based manual, which is difficult and costly to distribute”

How long
will an e-learning product take to develop?
A good guideline is
two months from start to finish. This is obviously flexible, depending on availability of key people
and how complex the e-learning product is. The development time includes time for you to confirm the
learning content, and time for the content to be quality assessed.
How
‘fancy’ can we make it?
e-Learning products can include straight
text, pictures, moving images, and interactions; e.g. quizzes, tests, links to websites, interactive
diagrams and activities.
Are
there different types of e-learning products?
Yes, here are some of the ways in
which e-learning can be used:
e-Briefing – conveys information in a user friendly and interactive way
Guidance – provides case studies and step by step support
Pre-course preparation – ensures that everyone has a common level of knowledge and understanding before face-to-face training
Post-course follow up – interactive summaries, refreshers, tests
Online tests – checks understanding, creates a record of achievement
e-Courses – full interactive learning delivery

How have
other users found the end product?
We have consistently received
positive feedback about our e-learning products. For example, after one e-learning module, 100% of learners
giving feedback felt the content was relevant to them. 96% said that the e-learning module had delivered
the course effectively, and 96% said that the e-learning layout was helpful to their learning.
How
much will it cost to have an e-learning product developed?
The
cost will depend on how long the course is and whether there are any special requirements. It is based
on how many chargeable days it will take to develop, and is calculated at the Hampshire Learning Centre
standard daily rate for consultancy. There is no licence charge per person for use of the e-learning
module. Please call or email us for an informal chat about costs for a project you have in mind.
Can
an e-learning product be updated?
Yes. That’s one of the useful
things about e-learning,; if something changes, the e-learning module can be updated and there is one
central place for reference. This can then be rolled out as soon as the update is made.

What
are the benefits of e-learning in terms of people reached, costs saved?
e-Learning
products can be extremely cost effective, reaching a wide audience in a short time frame. Approximately
400 staff viewed our Freedom of Information Act module in the first three days after launch. Roll-out
of this information would have been significantly slower if the same number of staff had attended face-to-face
briefings. Staff were also away from their work for a much reduced time because there was no travelling
to and from venues. Compared with other forms of learning activity, one particular e-learning module
cost 20% of an equivalent face-to-face briefing.
Will
e-learning replace other forms of training?
No.
e-Learning isn’t designed to replace all other training, but to aid other learning interventions and
to provide additional support in getting the message across. It may be delivered on its own or as part
of a blended approach, combining different learning methods together.
How
have other clients found the process of developing an e-learning product?
Here
are some comments we have received:
“The process was well supported and end product of a good standard.”
“Very satisfied and it achieved the aims.”
“Good process, good value, sound product.”
