Moving and Handling (Foundation/Refresher) e-Learning
Hampshire Learning Centre, working with their specialist Manual Handling Trainers have developed a 15 minute e-learning course to introduce you to the safe principles and good practice of Moving and Handling.
What will the Moving and Handling e-Learning cover?
This e-Learning will look at daily tasks that you may face and how they can link into safe manual handling practice. The e-Learning will investigate poor and unsafe techniques, and how you can transform these into good practice to prevent back care and other manual handling related issues.
Skills for Care Common Induction Standards [CIS]
This links to Standard 8 of the refreshed Common Induction Standards.
Learning Aims:
Identify the requirements the legislation and Hampshire County Councils policy has on their own working practices and that of others
Recognise by use of a simple risk assessment tool, situations where an injury may be sustained
Recognise poor and unsafe techniques
Adopt a problem solving approach to reduce risks
Relate the principles of manual handling to the anatomy of the spine
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this e-learning you should know how to:
raise awareness of safer moving and handling practices
achieve a 24 hour approach to back care
enable those with a history of back pain to use techniques which may prevent further injury
prevent occurrence of manual handling related injuries

About this e-Learning
Visits and progression through the course are tracked so that training via e-learning can be measured for effectiveness and provide a log as part of individual performance development
This e-Learning is aimed at any staff who may move or handle objects during their working day. In addition to this, the e-Learning also covers general good practice that can help individuals outside of work.
This e-Learning will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
