Re-syncing your handset

When you change your Hantsnet password on a Windows terminal or PC, you must change your password to match your Hantsnet password on your handset. There are 2 possible options to do this.

Option 1

  1. Select Start then Programs

  2. Tap ActiveSync, ensure that the handset is not connected to a PC or Laptop
    Tap ActiveSync

  3. Usually, after you have changed your Hantsnet password, the handset will stop synching and come up with the following screen. Tap on Attention required

  4. Enter your new Hantsnet password in the Password box, take care to get the upper and lower case letters correct

  5. Make sure that the Save Password (required for automatic sync) is ticked

  6. Tap the Next button until you get to Finish

  7. The handset should sync as usual.

Option 2

If the instructions above did not work try the following:

  1. Select Start then Programs

  2. Tap ActiveSync, ensure that the handset is not connected to a PC or Laptop

  3. Tap Menu

  4. Tap Server Settings the first server settings window will open.

    • On newer handsets you may see this step asking you to enter Email address. This should be in the format USERID (e.g. itdcxx) @ hants.gov.uk as in the example below

  5. Enter the server address owa.hants.gov.uk, leave tick box checked, select Next

  6. Enter your Hantsnet credentials

    • Username - Hantsnet ID

    • Password - Hantsnet password

    • Domain - it2000

  7. Tick the Save Password box

  8. Tap Next

  9. You will see all the items your handset will synchronise. If you do not wish to synchronise a certain item ie calendar un-tick the check box

  10. Tap Finish

  11. Your handset should then Sync.
