Elizabeth IIQueen Elizabeth II celebrates 60 years on the throne this week. She was proclaimed queen on 6 February 1952 upon the death of her father, King George VI. Her coronation took place over a year later (2 June 1953) at Westminster Abbey. The queen's Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated throughout the year with festivals and events.
