The Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire: Nigel Atkinson Esq
Nigel Atkinson was appointed as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire in September 2014.
Mr Atkinson was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire in 1999 and appointed as Vice Lord-Lieutenant in 2007. He currently holds a portfolio of Non-Executive Directorships in the Manufacturing, Leisure and Retailing sectors and is currently Chairman of Centurion Safety Products Limited; Chairman of Flowrite Services Limited and Non Executive Director of Wadworth & Co Ltd. He joined Courage Ltd in 1979, following five years with the Royal Green Jackets, and in 1990 became Chief Executive of Gales Brewery, a position he held for 16 years until its sale in December 2005. He has until recently held Non Executive Director positions with Fuller Smith & Turner plc, and Capital Radio plc.
Mr Atkinson is President of the Duke of Edinburgh Award in Hampshire, a Trustee of HMS Warrior 1860, a Trustee of Winchester Cathedral, a Patron of the Rainbow Centre in Fareham and Honorary Colonel Hampshire & Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force.
The Lord-Lieutenant is Her Majesty The Queen’s representative in the county, responsible for arranging and attending Royal Visits to Hampshire. The Lieutenancy in Hampshire is comprised of a Vice Lord-Lieutenant and an establishment of Deputy Lieutenants.
