The Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire
Dame Mary Fagan DCVO
Dame Mary Fagan DCVO was appointed Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire in January 1994 and is The Queen's representative in the County and is responsible for arrangements made for Royal Visits to the County.
Born at Gonalston Hall, Nottinghamshire on 11 September 1939, Dame Mary Fagan is married to Captain Christopher Fagan and they have lived for over 40 years in Hampshire.
During that time Dame Mary Fagan has been involved in numerous community projects, medical and charitable bodies, both as Chairman and a member of the Managing Boards. She is currently President and patron of over 60 organisations in Hampshire and maintains a keen interest in all aspects of life in Hampshire, including education, commerce, industry, the armed forces, and voluntary organisations. Dame Mary is also the Chairmanof the Advisory Committee for Magistrates.
Dame Mary Fagan is an Honorary Commodore in the Royal Naval Reserve, Honorary Colonel 457 Battery RA, Chancellor of the University of Winchester, Chairman of the Advisory Committee for Magistrates and Honorary Colonel Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (Volunteers) 4th Division.
The Lord-Lieutenant was made a Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by The Queen in the Birthday Honours list announced on 13th June 2009.
The Lieutenancy is comprised of a Vice Lord-Lieutenant and an establishment of Deputy Lieutenants
