Smannell

This is a modern parish, created in 1874, and lying between Andover and Hurstbourne Tarrant. Much of Doles Wood is within the parish.

The author and naturalist George Dewar spent much time at his brother's house, Doles House, and was to set many of his articles and books in the countryside around.
