Situated two miles South-West of Stockbridge the large Parish of Houghton covers an area of 1,081 hectares and in 1981 the population was 369. The Parish is famous for its fishing on the River Test, and the village of Houghton is situated on the West bank of the river. The church of All Saints dates from the C.13, and among other interesting buildings in the parish are Houghton Lodge, a cottage ornee, Houghton Mill, which is now a private residence, and the red brick Rectory.
