The logo
The central and most powerful element of our corporate identity.
The logo is the face of Hampshire County Council and its legibility and prominence should never be compromised. Ensure clarity at all times and under no circumstances should it ever be re-created or altered.
It must not be used as part of a sentence or have extra words added to it unless approved by Corporate Communications.
The logo must only be reproduced in black, white or using the corporate colours. It cannot be reproduced in any other colour.
Hampshire County Council sometimes negotiates contracts with national and local businesses that may last a number of years. Where this is the case a ‘working with’ logo must be applied. This is available in the corporate colour options for use on light and dark backgrounds.
Standard sizing
The logo shown on the right is the standard size for A4, A5 and DL documents, from which other sizes can be proportionally enlarged or reduced. The smallest reduction option is illustrated below.
On these documents the text 'Hampshire County Council' should be 40mm across.
Please note that on advertisements smaller than A5 the logo can be proportionally reduced.
Minimum sizing

On advertisements smaller than A5, the logo and banding can be proportionally reduced. The smallest it can appear is with the wording of Hampshire County Council measuring 30mm across.
Proportional sizing
The logo can also be scaled upwards on larger documents. On A3 documents the text 'Hampshire County Council' should be 55mm across.
Discontinued option

In the past, a smaller, adapted version of our logo was available. This must no longer be applied and therefore is no longer available.
The rose and crown
The rose and crown may be used without “Hampshire County Council” next to it as a decorative or design device, but only in addition to and not as a substitute for the logo. It must not be used as bullet points.
The innermost circle of the rose is always dark. It should never appear white or in a light colour. Errors can occur when the correct black-on-white image is electronically reversed.
Specialist production applications
Different applications sometimes require alternative treatments. Promotional items, enamel badges and some types of signage often require alternative artwork because of the manufacturing process being used.
The section below highlights the need to take care when supplying logos using the following processes.
Silk screening
A light colour or white onto a product with a dark background, eg diaries and coloured pencils. Also used for gold blocking.
Enamel badges
Metal with two or three enamel colours require a metal rim to hold the infill coloured enamels.
Signage
Prepared from cut-out, brushed stainless steel with red and blue overprinting.
For signs on doors and windows
Where the logo appears on clear vinyl, the white inside the rose must appear as a colour and not as a clear area.
For advice on reproducing the logo in these formats, please contact Hampshire Printing Services' Graphics Team.
