Can our department name, section or web address appear in the banding?
No. Only the generic web address (www.hants.gov.uk) and partners’ logos can appear in the band alongside our logo.

Can additional text, eg a department name, be added to the logo?
Additional text must not be added to the logo, with the exception of “working with” and “hosted by”.

Must the band appear on all pages of a publication?
The band only needs to appear on the front cover of a publication.

Must the logo appear on all internal documents?
It is not necessary for the logo to appear on all internal documents, only those that will have an external audience.

Can the County Council’s coat of arms be used to represent the county of Hampshire?
No. The coat of arms represents Hampshire County Council and not the county of Hampshire. Our Record Office does not hold any information on a county badge that could be used to represent the county.

Can other organisations use our logo in their publicity materials?
This depends on our relationship with the organisation. Organisations that we have supplied a grant to are usually required to include our logo in their publicity materials. Some companies under long-term contract to the Council are also required to use our logo. However, we do not allow organisations who have carried out work for the County Council to use our logo to publicise their services. The County Council must be careful not to show bias towards any one organisation over another.

Can individual elements of the County Council’s coat of arms be used to make up the design of other organisation’s logos and flags?
Organisations can only include elements of our coat of arms in their logos and flags if they have been sufficiently redesigned so as not to infringe copyright. For example, the Hampshire rose is used by several organisations in Hampshire, but all look different.

Can individuals or organisations fly the County Council flag?
Unfortunately, we cannot allow others to fly our flag because it represents Hampshire County Council and not the county of Hampshire.

How long has the County Council flag been used?
The red and yellow, ceremonial flag is based on our coat of arms, which was granted in 1992.This flag has been in use since then. The blue flag has been used since early 2002, shortly after our current corporate logo was introduced.

What can I do if I have limited space?
On items below DL size, ie 100mm x 210mm, you can use the minimum 30mm wide logo. The logo can only be used smaller than this if absolutely necessary, for example on small promotional items.

Can I change the size of the logo?
You can, provided it follows our guidance on sizing and any changes to size are made proportionately.
