Long Distance Routes
Hampshire has over 3,000 miles of footpaths, bridleways and byways. To encourage use of the rights of way, Hampshire County Council has established a network of long-distance paths, which greatly enhance the opportunities for walkers wishing to explore the best of Hampshire's countryside.
Each walk is distinctively signed and waymarked, and advertised by a leaflet or booklet - some also provide additional circular walks.
The Solent Way
On 1 January 2012, the Defence Infrastructure Organisation withdrew all permissive rights to walk along the foreshore for the Solent Way at Browndown near Gosport.
