The MATISSE Pilot
Hampshire has been chosen as the South East region location for the six-month managed MATISSE pilot. The pilot will involve around 100 participants approximately 50% of whom will be HCC employees. Remaining participants will be chosen from a cross section of SMEs (Small to Medium Enterprises)
A formal conference to present the results of the pilot is planned for 7 November at the Guildhall in Winchester. The paragraphs below show the criteria and basis for participant selection as well as the timeframe for the pilot trial.
How will MATISSE pilot participants be selected?
It is anticipated that there will be a minimum of three and a maximum of ten participants per participating business or department.
In addition to active Management Team support, we will also be looking for a named point of contact and the proactive involvement of the participants’ line manager. It is envisaged that participants will represent a cross section of work-types and businesses and might be:
- Members of small or large office-based teams (whose work mix does NOT restrict them solely to the office)
- Office-based but regularly travel to off site meetings in order to meet client needs
- Field-based staff that are, as yet, not utilising Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the client location or from their home but could readily do so
- Willing to complete the pre-pilot and post pilot questionnaire and ‘in pilot’ diary.
- Home based or remote from the office at least 2 days per week for the duration of the pilot
- Owners of a home PC and have (or be willing to install) a broadband home connection and have a home based environment conducive to work
What do I get in return for supporting the MATISSE pilot?
Organisations who support the pilot (and whose participants complete the required monitoring forms) will benefit from:
- A project contribution (to reflect such as staff time, information recording and associated project costs) of up to £500 per participant as agreed with the MATISSE Steering Group
- A checklist and guidance to help ensure the participant’s home environment meets basic H&S requirements and is conducive to home working
- Access (including from home) to Hantsnet including the Hantsweb based MATISSE website which will contain a variety of resources including the ‘in pilot’ resources and FAQs,
- An invitation to the Matisse Pilot conference in November 2006
- A copy of the MATISSE report and Mobile and Teleworker best practice ‘toolkit’ when produced at the conclusion of the pilot.
The key benefit however, will be the practical experience and shared learning through participation in the pilot. This will help quantify service and staff benefits and thereby help inform future policy and direction in terms of wider Mobile or Teleworking implementation.
