Hampshire boasted eight Olympic medal winners at London 2012 - more than any other county except Yorkshire - and also achieved nine Paralympic medals.
Hampshire’s celebrations included competitions, sports days, films and art exhibitions in libraries, museums, country parks and other venues. Hampshire’s schools organised community events, visits from Olympic athletes, and hundreds of Olympic-themed lessons and projects. For many people, the four days of the torch relay in Hampshire were also unforgettable.
Now that the games are over, Hampshire County Council is considering a number of proposals to make sure that sport stays high on the agenda for everyone. More information will be posted here when the main proposals have been discussed.
