The Charitable Shopmobility schemes across UK wish to help people who have a mobility difficulty to benefit by using a scooter. Shopmobility services are found in over 300 town centres. They are often run by volunteers who just want to help people get about independently.
A DVD is available which will introduce you to using scooters and shopmobility services. You will be able to assess if a scooter is suitable for you. It will also give useful training and guidance for using a scooter and staying safe. It will help you if you are considering buying a scooter.

The number of people using powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters has increased in recent years. Regrettably, so have the number of users involved in collisions, with casualties also increasing. So before taking one of these vehicles out on to the road or pavement make sure that you have a good understanding of the rules concerning their use and that you undertake training in their use.
