The Friends are a lively body, currently about 150 in number, who hold regular meetings to encourage interest in all things associated with the museum.
In the course of the year occasional excursions are arranged to historic houses and sites, exhibitions or other museums. There are social events from time to time which encourage a general informal atmosphere. The Friends have a close relationship with the staff of the Hampshire County Council Museums Service by whom their support is welcomed.
Since being formed in 1934 the Friends have assisted in making many fine gifts to the Museums Service and they have a special interest in the ceramic, glass and local collections. There are occasional opportunities for members to give practical help with the Museum activities.
