Hampshire Archives and Local Studies

Archive Ambassadors

As part of the Living Links Community Archive Project 95 Archive Ambassadors were trained to act as important links between the local Record Offices (Hampshire and the Isle of Wight) and their local communities. They act as ‘champions of local history’; pass on skills learnt from archives professionals to help communities develop and safeguard their heritage collections; help communities to make discoveries at the record offices; and above all help the Record Offices to keep in touch with their local communities.

Archive Ambassadors receive training from archives professionals including practical advice on conservation care and cataloguing, help with digitising records and tips on film and sound archives. These training sessions are held once or twice a year to meet demand. For more information, please contact Hampshire Record Office.
