Archive Ambassadors

Archive Ambassadors are trained to act as important links between the local Record Offices (Hampshire and the Isle of Wight) and their local communities. They act as ‘champions of local history’; pass on skills learnt from archives professionals to help communities develop and safeguard their heritage collections; help communities to make discoveries at the record offices; and above all support the Record Offices in keeping in touch with local communities.

Archive Ambassadors receive training from archives professionals including practical advice on conservation care and cataloguing, help with digitising records and doing oral history. Our next Archive Ambassador course are advertised on Whats on.
