Hampshire County Council’s Contemporary Art Collection is now available to view online for the very first time. We are delighted that the works are now available online which makes the Collection more accessible to the general public and will encourage the use of the Collection for educational and research purposes.
The Collection of nearly 400 pieces, which has been accumulated over 20 years, includes the work of significant British artists, such as limited edition prints by Bridget Riley, David Hockney, Henry Moore, Victor Pasmore and John Piper, through to more recent additions from Hampshire-based artists or works depicting Hampshire scenes.
The online catalogue of the Collection is being hosted by The Visual Arts Data Services (VADS), an online resource for the visual arts. VADS has provided services to the academic community for 12 years and has built up a considerable portfolio of visual arts collections comprising over 100,000 images that are available and copyright cleared for private use in learning, teaching and research in the UK. For more information about VADS and the Collections they hold please visit www.vads.ac.uk.
