Hampshire Heathland Project

Over ninety percent of Hampshire's heathlands outside the New Forest have been lost since the late 1800s.  Nevertheless, the County still supports nearly thirty percent of the UK's remaining lowland heathland - a priority habitat for conservation action across the UK.

Hampshire County Council's Hampshire Heathland Project is ensuring that one of the rarest habitats in Hampshire is being managed and restored.   The Project also aims to promote a greater understanding of Hampshire's heathlands, their ecology, archaeology and cultural significance.
