Situated at the end of Calshot Spit, Calshot Castle is one of several forts constructed by Henry VIII. It is now managed by Hampshire County Council on behalf of English Heritage and is open to visitors every day from 1st April to 30th September.
We are looking for a Castle Custodian to join a small team of staff who open the castle to visitors every day and enhance the visitor experience. Custodians are responsible for day to day duties, providing a welcoming and safe environment for visitors, collecting entrance fees and selling shop stock. Custodians begin work at 1015 and finish at 1645, having an unpaid 30 minute lunch break. They work 7 days in every fortnight on a predetermined 2 weekly rota that includes weekends and bank holidays.
Some experience working in a public facing role in desirable as you must have good customer service skills. You should also be a motivated worker who can get on with tasks independently when time away from the gate allows. Experience using a till and basic financial recording systems is also desirable.
