My School Lunch Website

My School Lunch logoThis website has been formed by, and for, local authorities to provide information on their own individual primary school meal services, and to educate children on the benefits of healthy eating, there are interactive games based on the national curriculum.

As all the games in the Fun Fair area of the website are educational, worksheets Download Acrobat Reader to view this PDF 1004kb and lesson plans Microsoft Word 352kb (examples only linked here) have been put together for parents and teachers under the Teaching Resources section of the website.  All identify the aspect of the curriculum that each game relates to and how the curriculum is satisfied.

The Teaching Resources area is protected by a password that is available to all Hampshire teachers and parents upon request.

The site also helps children to learn how to use E-mail, provides stories about our characters, Robby and Rosie for them to read and has competitions and information about healthy eating.  There is also a section about medal winner diver, Tom Daley, who is writing a diary for us all about his training, competitions and coping with school work.  Tom is an excellent role model for children as he is determined to do his best, exercises and eats well.  We followed Tom's progress to the Olympic Games in 2012 and wait to hear if he will stays with www.myschoollunch.co.uk in future.

In addition to the Teaching Resources, our menus, general information about our meals and a feedback questionnaire are also available for adults visiting our site.

We are aware that our characters, Robby and Rosie, are aimed more at Key Stage 1 children and have therefore added a new section to the website aimed at Key Stage 2 children.  The characters for this section are Roxie and Billy, who again promote a healthy lifestyle and children can find activity sheets, stories and competitions in this section.

Finally, there are pages called 'Moving Up'.  These are aimed at pupils moving on to secondary school and contain information on the meals available, style of service and the promotions we will be running in our secondary schools.
