Services for Young Children Professional Options

Services for Young Children (SfYC) in Hampshire has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality training and support to early years and childcare providers as well as providing a trusted perspective on early years pedagogy and practice. Working with the SfYC teams is a highly effective way of keeping up-to-date with best practice guidance and to find out all about the latest national development while receiving valuable input for continuing development and understanding of the early years. In addition to the support provided through the Improvement Support Programme (the 'Core Offer'), we can offer a range of services through the Professional Option route.

Who we are and how we work together

Training and support outlined in this portfolio is available from the District Advisory team, the Childcare Development and Business Support team, and the Children's Centres and Inclusion team.

All team members are experienced in working alongside settings in the maintained, private, voluntary and indepentent sectors of the early years workforce and with Children's Centres. Team members will work with providers to meet their individual needs to improve the well being and raising of outcomes for children. Team members will also provide challenge and guidance to enable childcare practitioners to be self managing and effective in their delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and in services for the under 5's and their families.

These services are offered as 'Professional Options' and are available to all providers to purchase.

Services for Young Children believe that Professional Options can enhance a provider's opportunity to improve outcomes for children. We also believe that our pricing structure will enable providers to purchase training and support at times of need (e.g. prior to/after an Ofsted inspection).

Subscription Scheme

This is a voluntary training subscription scheme for early years and childcare providers. The subscription scheme operates from April to March and enables providers to be in greater control of access to courses they need for their childcare business.

The scheme enables providers to purchase a training subscription based on a number of places which then can be used against identfied training courses. This approach allows providers to a tailor a training programme that best meets their needs and can be based upon the continuous professional development (CPD) of staff. Managers should consider their development/ business plan and staff CPD requirements to determine the number of training places they purchase.

All of the training and courses listed in the Quality Improvement Training Programme are delivered by trusted early years specialists from our approved Framework.

Prices/ Bookings

Bookings can be accessed through our training subscription scheme or by purchasing places at a £100 per person.

Full details of what training and coursescan be accessed, and how to join can be found here.
