Working with an Educational Psychologist
What happens if an educational psychologist works with my child?
There are a range of activities, which EPs may undertake depending on the sort of concerns being raised.
For example EPs may:
- observe children and look at the work they are doing
- talk with children individually or in a group. We may ask them about friendships, feelings, teachers or members of the family and about their school work
- use activities to assess a child's progress or general abilities.
As a parent, you may join EPs when they work with your child. However, experience suggests that unless your child is below school age it is usually better to talk afterwards.
