Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships give you the chance to earn and learn at the same time. Taking between one to four years to complete, you will receive a salary and gain key skills and qualifications through on-the-job training and at a learning provider. You must be at least 16 years old, living in England, and not be in full-time education.

There are lots of apprenticeships available in many different industries, which could lead you on to a higher level apprenticeship, higher education or skilled employment and further training.

There are three apprenticeship levels:

Foundation learning

Foundation learning programmes give you the chance to gain basic and key skills, such as English, maths and ICT, subject or vocational skills and understanding, and personal and social development learning.

Through practical qualifications, you will develop the skills you need for daily life and work. When you have completed it, you will be able to progress to level 2 qualifications, such as an apprenticeship or further study, or employment.
