Children’s social care services in Basingstoke are to be transformed as Hampshire County Council takes forward recommendations of the Munro Review of Child Protection. Using the acclaimed Hackney model, social work will be redesigned to improve the quality of the service and improve outcomes for children and families.
Hampshire, whose Children’s Services are rated as good and outstanding by Ofsted, is in a strong position to take forward recommendations of the Munro Review. The initial pilot project will be implemented over the coming months to start in May for a minimum period of one year. Detailed evaluation will measure a range of data, quality of services, staff satisfaction and outcomes for children and their families. If the evaluation of the pilot in Basingstoke shows that it is successful, it is anticipated that the model will be rolled out to all of Hampshire’s children and families social care services.
