Introduction to Lepe – sense of place, what we will do, what do you think you will find, where will we find them, what risks are there.
Photo Orienteering – Look closely a photos and find clues as to where they are taken, explore and find markers.
Follow directions to find a view, discuss who might see the view and what they might be doing. Draw and write a postcard of the place. Collect items along the way to help remember and describe route to others.
Develop map skills such as reading a key, orientating a map and planning a route. Find markers around the park using a map.
Recap on people, places and map reading, questions and answers.
Most children will – identify and find different points around the park using the resources available to them. Know about the types of people who visit the park.
Some children will have progressed further and will – be able to use a map and compass and describe routes.
View Finding can be used in conjunction with coastal processes and questions altered to link with a range of topics.
Photo Orienteering and Orienteering can be used as a fun activity after another session.
