Language in the Curriculum course (LinC)

EMTAS offers this language-focused course to advanced EAL learners from secondary schools in the Basingstoke area.  It is suitable for students in years 9, 10 and 11.

The course focuses on improving academic writing through scaffolded speaking and listening, modelling of key language and collaborative group work.

A teacher’s comment after a Nepali-speaking student (who was predicted grade D for his GCSE Science) attended this course:

"[Student] has developed his writing skill. Written coursework has consistently been a C grade…In written form the range of his language is increasing."

For more information about the LinC course or to register your interest in running this course in your area, please email astrid.gouwy@hants.gov.uk or jamie.earnshaw@hants.gov.uk.
