Listen2Me is Hampshire Music Service's exciting opportunity to deliver the Government's pledge that "over time, all KS2 children should have the opportunity to learn an instrument" through whole class teaching. HMS offers tuition and provides equipment and necessary resources on a choice of three different instruments, with one term spent on each. This unique approach enables children to make an informed choice when wanting to go on to learn an instrument at a higher level.
Instrument choices include:
Violins/Mixed Strings (violin & cello)
Hampshire Music Service, working in partnership with the University of Winchester, engaged in a research programme to monitor and evaluate the programme and its impact on, and responses of, pupils and their schools. The results of the second phase, a three year study concluding in 2012 are available in the Listen2Me Evaluation Research Document 438kb. A summary of the Listen2Me evaluation 7 MB has also been made available.
The project is available to schools at KS1, KS2 and a programme is also available for special schools. For more information on the scheme and how to purchase the Listen2Me offer, please view our Music Provision page
