Many schools use out-of-the-classroom experiences for their pupils to give added stimulus and relevance to programmes of study from National Curriculum subject areas. Trailblazer provides a co-ordinated means of recognising these valuable experiences.
The Trailblazer scheme encourages pupils to become independent learners, by promoting their involvement in setting targets and reviewing experiences. It promotes the value of using this process whilst undertaking all outdoor activities.
Trailblazer helps young people to learn how to learn
Trailblazer provides a number of ready-to-use activities, often with national curriculum links, which can be used in the school grounds or almost any outdoor context. These activities are called Ideas Pages and are in an easy to use format and can be adapted to suit the age and ability of your particular group. They are filed in the Coordinator Folder. New Ideas Pages are sent out via the post and posted on the Coordinators section of the website on a regular basis.
