The Economic and Business Intelligence Service (EBIS) is a subscription based service that provides regular up-to-date sub-national economic and business intelligence, briefings and insights in order to support the sub-regional economic development activity.
Hampshire County Council, Oxfordshire County Council, Surrey County Council, Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Enterprise M3 LEP have signed up for the service in 2012/13. The service has done some bespoke work for other non-subscribing local authorities e.g. Portsmouth City Council.
The service is based upon two key strands of activity:
the production of economic and business intelligence reports on a monthly basis, (See Economic & business intelligence reports tab )
the provision of a more ‘bespoke’ service. (See Economic research, analysis & expertise tab)
The first strand consists of three timely (monthly) reports of publishable quality for each subscribing county/LEP:
An update of the state of the economy that includes the latest business specific intelligence (job creation/losses and mergers and acquisitions) in the area.
The report covers labour market performance at national, regional and sub-regional level (including LEPs and local authority districts).
A one page visual summary of the latest performance of a county/LEP against the benchmark area.
Quarterly reports:
This strand consist of:
on economic and business issues, tailored to individual areas.
– e.g. short economic appraisal and economic impact studies, sector-specific work.
on economics/economic policy and research issues
This service can be tailored to ensure that it is responsive to customer requirements.
