- The first season of the much anticipated Netflix series this year is finally hitting or screens. The Crown a ten episode series based on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and the trials and tribulations behind these times gives us an inside look at the early reign of our Queen. The filming of The Crown, the first ever UK Netflix production coming in at over £100 million to produce saw Winchester become centre stage with many scenes filmed in the City. Actors descending on Winchester back in January included Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth, John Lithgow playing Winston Churchill and Matt Smith as Prince Phillip.
