About us

What we do

Forest Arts Centre is the leading venue for live arts events in the New Forest. A former military drill hall in New Milton, it has a 146 capacity air-conditioned theatre, dance studio, workshop room and licensed café-bar with gallery space.

Part of Hampshire Cultural Trust, Forest Arts is also supported by New Forest District Council, the Centre’s programme includes live music,  comedy, theatre, dance and other events – as well as regular screenings of the best in world and classic film.

Exhibitions of high quality work by local, regional and national artists change regularly and Forest Arts offers regular classes in dance, drama and art for adults and youngsters, as well as one off workshops (such as jewellery making and glass craft) activities for families, and half-term and holiday workshops.

In addition the Centre provides an extensive educational and outreach programme in partnership with schools, community and voluntary organisations as well as other arts organisations, HCC and NFDC services.

Our rooms are also available for hiring at certain times and current users include the Hard of Hearing Club, Brockenhurst College Special Needs group, and private yoga, pilates and art tutors.

Recently, we have started selling arts and crafts in our foyer and café area. All the pieces are hand picked by the centre and reflect the quality and diversity of makers in the New Forest. Our group of artists produce a variety of items including cards, jewellery, pottery and textiles. Ideal as keep sakes or gifts.

This is a low cost initiative being trialled on a sale or return basis. The centre will take 30% of the sale price.

As well as being a welcome addition to all that we offer this new venture will increase both revenue and footfall.
