Why does Hampshire County Council publish a residents magazine?

Hampshire Now is the main way the County Council communicates directly with you, the people of Hampshire. The magazine highlights the news, services and activities that we provide across the county.

Hampshire Now is the only publication that gets delivered to every single household throughout Hampshire. With a print run of over 500,000, the magazine is a highly efficient way to communicate important information to everyone living in Hampshire.

How often does Hampshire Now come out?

We produce three issues a year.

How much does Hampshire Now cost to produce?

It costs approximately 11p per magazine to produce.

Who delivers Hampshire Now?

The County Council has a special agreement with Royal Mail to deliver the magazine. Most are delivered unaddressed through doors in the county. For homes that are on the Hampshire border we sometimes send addressed copies to make sure that only homes in the county receive the magazine.

I live in Hampshire but I don't receive Hampshire Now. Why?

Southampton and Portsmouth are unitary authorities, and don’t fall under control of Hampshire County Council. If you live in either of these areas, you should receive information from your city council.

All other homes in the county should get a copy of the magazine. If you aren't getting your copy, please contact hampshirenow@hants.gov.uk with your name and address and we will look into why you aren't receiving the magazine. Alternatively, you can call 0845 603 5638 (call charges may apply).

I don't want to receive Hampshire Now any more, can you take me off your mailing list?

To opt out of receiving Hampshire Now you will need to contact Royal Mail and opt out of their door-to-door mailing service. This means that you will not receive any similar door-to-door items (from any authorities or businesses - not just from the County Council) for a two-year period. What paper is Hampshire Now printed on?

We print on a paper that is produced from a sustainable source which is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. For every tree harvested, at least two are planted.

Who writes Hampshire Now?

It is written by the County Council Communications Team and contributors from within our departments.

I have written a story. How can I submit it to Hampshire Now?

We don't generally accept stories from external sources, but if you have any queries, please email hampshirenow@hants.gov.uk.

I have an idea for a story, who should I contact?

Because our role is to let residents know about the services offered by Hampshire County Council, we generally only invite ideas from our own departments. If you have any queries, please email hampshirenow@hants.gov.uk.

I have an event I'd like to publicise. Can it be included in the What's On section?
