Manor Farm is making its mark on the South's tourism map after celebrating a second visitor services award in a year.
The team at Manor Farm - made famous as the filming location for BBC's Wartime Farm - are celebrating after being accredited as a'Quality Assured Visitor Attraction' by Visit England, following their 'Green Flag' award last summer.
The farm can now proudly display the Visit England Rose as well as the Green Flag, assuring visitors that Manor Farm is amongst one of the best attractions in the South.
Visit England carried out a comprehensive assessment of the Farm, including access to information, a telephone response as well as the visit itself. The inspector concluded that the farm fully merited the accreditation. He particularly noted that, 'the enthusiasm and positive visitor interaction displayed by staff, enhanced the visit.'
Hampshire County Council's Executive Member for Culture, Recreation and Countryside, Councillor Keith Chapman, said: "Manor Farm is an exceptional visitor attraction and the Visit England award endorses this. The team at the Farm work above and beyond their duty to make everyone's visit a truly memorable one and this award gives them true recognition. I hope this will help spread the word about what a great place the Country Park and Farm are to visit."
Manor Farm is a historic working farm with a farm house and barns to explore. Visitors can see what's cooking in the farmhouse kitchen or help milk the animals. It's a great day out for the family or makes for an exciting and educational school trip. The Country Park lets visitors explore the woodland and riverside walks along the Hamble as well as the green spaces and playgrounds.
The success of Manor Farm will be built on as part of Hampshire County Council's £13million transformation programme. It's one of six country parks in the five year plan to help the parks meet the needs of a new generation of visitors and boost the contribution they make to Hampshire's tourism economy. Manor Farm and Country Park is among those in line for a refurbished and extended café and toilets, as well as new indoor facilities and play areas for wet weather.
