Hampshire IT has teamed up with Point2Educate to bring a new way of delivering engaging and creative curriculum software to schools.
The Point2Educate service provides primary and secondary schools with a choice of hundreds of curriculum software titles on a rental basis.
This means that you will no longer need to purchase the software and may achieve significant savings. This offers value for money, flexibility and ease of management. It can be used at schools, and by pupils and parents at home. There are three credit bands to choose from and school staff will be able to spend and manage the credit.
Take a look at the software available through Point2Educate.
To join Point2Educate, contact the IT Help Desk.
HSS schools can also speak to their account manager.
The Point2Educate service delivered over HSS is set up by Hampshire IT by remotely installing the Point2Player and the Player Jukebox on each workstation at the school. Code is then created to use the account with the application.
The Point2School account is created with your chosen credit in place. The credit can be spent on whichever software titles the school chooses from the Point2Educate catalogue. The software is available immediately to download and use and any software rented through Point2Educate is available to use throughout the school. Home use by staff and pupils is also available through the HSS remote access solution.
Some schools may have already bought licences for software which is not available on the Point2Educate catalogue. These can be packaged up and delivered via the Point2Educate service, however there may be a charge for this.
As part of the process to set up P2E, we will assess your server DFS cache space to ensure there is sufficient capacity. If there is not, your HSS account manager will be in touch to discuss the options.
You will be able to receive savings on software rental prices by contacting us via the IT Support Form. We will help you set up the Point2School account with the chosen credit.
You will need to download the Point2Player to your school’s workstations and/or at home. You will then be ready to start using the service.
Please note: Going directly to Point2Educate will mean the full rental prices for software being applicable.

The usual rental period is four months. This allows schools to rent the software for a term if it is only needed for a term thus saving money. Some titles can be rented for 12 months, however not all publishers allow this.
The software title will be updated. You will need to relaunch it when you next use it.
Software titles that do this usually create a configuration file that would remain on the system even after the rental period ends. However, it depends on the software title.
A Point2Educate account will be set up with your chosen credit. Hampshire IT will install software (Jukebox and the Point2Educate Player) onto the school's workstations and configure it. When this has been done, you can start to use the service.
