HPSN2 is a public service network connecting over 1,200 sites across Hampshire, including schools, local authorities, health trusts and blue light services. So you can safely and securely transfer sensitive information such as student data without the risk of it being compromised.
The network also provides secure access to County Council services - plus free access to JANET and NEN curriculum materials.
With HPSN2 we manage your online safety. Our connectivity comes with managed firewalls and anti-virus software which protect your school from cyber threats and keeps your students safe online – a key Ofsted review requirement.
In a typical hour, HPSN2 protects schools from over 500 infected web pages and nearly 4 million potentially harmful connections. And its flexible web-filtering allows schools to block or unblock websites locally.
HPSN2 offers all schools 100% fibre dedicated connection with a contention ratio of 1:1, which means the bandwidth is all yours and you will always get the speed you sign up for, even at peak times.
We have decades of experience managing enterprise level networks – with plenty of room for traffic growth.
Virgin Media Business is the UK’s second largest broadband network operator (after BT). They own nearly 200km of fibre within the UK, providing a twenty-first century 'next generation access' level of service.
HPSN2 is a national leader in public service networks, delivering the highest government standards of security. School, pupil, parent and teacher data is held with an unprecedented level of security against cyber-crime.
Fully integrated help desks staffed 24/7
fault response within 30 minutes (during core hours)
fault fix time within eight working hours
where needed, an on-site visit within four working hours.
HPSN2 is self-funding and not dependent upon government grants or cross-subsidies (that is, secondary schools do not subsidise primary schools). Within phases rural secondary schools' annual charges would be smoothed out across the sector.
