The County Council's Environment Group comprises a number of environmental specialists, including landscape architects, land management planners, ecologists and coastal specialists. The Environment Group is based in the County Council's Economy, Transport and Environment Department.
The work of the Group is important to the shaping of Hampshire's future through development and delivery of environmental programmes. These help to enhance the quality of life and to ensure that as Hampshire's communities develop, they accomodate change while protecting the special character that makes Hampshire such an attractive place to live work and visit.
Hampshire’s natural environment supports a rich diversity of habitats and species. Specialist ecologists maintain a wealth of environmental information, interpreting this information and providing advice to ensure this rich biodiversity is maintained and enhanced.
The Historic Environment is reflected in the landscape character, buildings and archaeological sites. A dedicated team maintain a record of what has survived from the past and provide advice on the care and protection of these assets.
