Planning and Archaeology

The County Archaeology Service provides archaeological advice to local planning authorities in Hampshire.

This can involve correspondence regarding policy and development management, as well as contact with planning officers, applicants and archaeological contractors.

The documents below provide some basic advice regarding the policy framework, service standards and procedures which exist and are intended to answer some of the frequently asked questions that arise. It also includes an archaeological strategy to offer insight into the research issues in Hampshire, and the Hampshire Museum Service's guidance on depositing archives.
