The collection is housed at Alton Library, close to Chawton where Jane's family lived for many years.
The scope of the Collection is the life and works of Jane Austen, but there are many other links to places and organisations.
Jane Austen's Hampshire are among the most popular web pages provided by Hampshire County Council.
To find books by and about Jane Austen see the library catalogue or click on the Links tab for more information.

Chawton House was once the home of members of the Austen and Knight families, but today holds a magnificent collection of women's writing from 1600 to 1830, including Jane Austen and her contemporaries.
Appointments to view the reference only items can be made, but there are also guided tours of the house and gardens, a tea-room and a gift shop.
We work very closely with the Chawton House Library and shared access is made available to scholars and general interest readers alike.
