Good Neighbour Scheme

If you are unable to get to the library but know a neighbour, friend or relative who is willing to visit the library and exchange books for you, then they can benefit by registering with the Good Neighbour Scheme.

Library staff will be happy to assist this person when they are choosing books for you. On the rare occasion when they cannot return books on time, or they forget to renew them, they will not have to pay overdue charges. Reservations from the library catalogue are free but standard charges apply to inter-library loan requests.

Please ask the person who is going to be your Good Neighbour to talk to library staff the next time they visit on your behalf. Staff can then update your library membership record accordingly.  If the Good Neighbour gives us their own e-mail address, we will send them a reminder before your books are due back so they can be returned or renewed.
