The Library Service offers a number of targeted concessionary membership schemes, each of which offers customers special borrowing rights.

This scheme is aimed at people with a significant print disability (eg learning disability or visual impairment) and allows 2 DVDs/Music CDs/Games or Audio books to be borrowed at any one time free of charge. There are under 18 and over 18 categories. Reservations for items in Hampshire stock are free.
We are now asking for documentary evidence of eligibility, principally the Hampshire County Council disability card where the holder is registered as having severe or partial sight impairment or having a learning disability.
Customers aged 18 or over will usually be asked for a Hampshire County Council disability card.

Please note that eligibility for visual impairment registration requires a certificate from an opthalmologist.

Customers who are under 18 can show their Gateway Card or provide a letter from their school, or doctor, indicating that they have a significant print disability. A letter has been provided below which can be downloaded and printed as required.
Free access to large print and audio books for those who are unable to read standard print books. Those with a print or sight disability are invited to register for this scheme. Customers are allowed free reservations for large print and audio books in Hampshire’s stock.
This scheme is aimed at supporting group activities in libraries and not for institutions where customers could take out individual Audio-Visual membership. It is aimed at those groups that need DVDs etc in order to be able to function.
