Strategic Planning

Planning application information

There are two ways of submitting planning applications, online (electronic form / email) and by post.  We promote electronic submissions as they are both more sustainable and generally quicker to process.

The whole application process is now available to view online allowing you to track the progress of your application from registration to determination.

Planning in Hampshire’s National Parks

The Council does not determine proposals in the New Forest National Park or the South Downs National Park. The relevant National Park Authority are responsible for all planning matters within their administrative boundaries. This means that planning applications for county council, minerals and waste developments which were previously processed and determined by Hampshire County Council are now determined by the relevant National Park Authority. When both parks were established, Hampshire County Council provided planning services to assist both Authority’s under Service Level Agreements. These arrangements are no longer in place. Any enquiries on planning matters in the National Park administrative area’s should therefore be directed to the relevant National Park Authority.

Development Management Charter

The Development Management Charter  Download Adobe Reader to view this PDF 14MB sets out the type and standards of service that Hampshire County Council aims to provide when undertaking our development management duties.

Hazardous Substances Consent

We also process applications for Hazardous Substances Consent, the application forms for this can be found here.
